Summer update

What happened to the summer weather?!? It's August and my weather app says the forecast for Kirkmichael today is "Tropical rainstorm!!" Now that is a new one on me but not to worry it's still dry at 1pm so we have lots of happy tired dogs and the washing is about dry too so it's all good!
We have had a very busy summer with full kennels for the duration of the school hols which has been amazing and we want to thank all our fantastic customers for continuing to bring their four legged friends to us for their holidays. Now that the schools are back we want to share a couple of pieces of very exciting news. The first is that we have been accepted as a proud supported of the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere, what that really means is that we have signed up to the charter and have made a promise to develop our business in a sustainable way. We are very happy to be a part of something that we think is pretty amazing! for more info go to www.gsabiosphere.org.uk
Other news is that we are planning some exciting new developments here at the kennels and hope to be able to offer new services very soon. The plan is to do some work in what was the cattery and install a dog washing/drying facility and also a Canine Ozone Jacuzzi Spa bath which is a wonderful therapeutic resource for dogs who suffer from arthritis, skin conditions, circulation problems and has a whole host of benefits. We hope to be able to bring more news very soon so will keep everyone up to date. Meanwhile thank you for your support and check back soon for more news

March or Spring forward!

After the rain comes the sun, so far March has been a bit of a mixed month weather wise but the clock change is upon us and I think all of us at Windyhill are ready for some light nights and high pressure!! Here are a few pictures from the last couple of weeks ...

February is here!

Hooray it's not dark at 4pm anymore!! The feeling of starting to move into the lighter nights is very much a welcome one here at Windyhill, the winter is not so bad once all the chores are done and I'm in the house with a hot cuppa, I love the feeling of knowing the dogs are tucked up tight and cosy in their kennels and I get to sit and cuddle mine in front of the fire. I'm now up to four of my own in the house, we have Penny the terrier, Tulla my old girl who will be 17 this summer, Roxy my lovely wee three year old fox red labrador who we got back in September and Lyra the bedlington/whippet who is now 7 months and a wee bit of a handful but very easy to love...aren't they all!!

We've also had lots of new dogs coming into the kennels, we were full at New Year! So we got to see lots of four legged friends who had been before and made some new pals too. We did a bit of improvement work to the dog runs over the winter too, laying slabs so that they have a hard standing when they are out rather than just the grass as it does get a bit mushy during the wet weather. I've also been putting new floor coverings down in some of the kennels and they are looking good. My plan is to get some painting done over the next few weeks to give a wee freshen up, here's hoping for some nice dry weather so I can get on with it!
